GFC Waste Management Plant in Hambantota recently conducted an important awareness program for all employees, led by a Public Health Inspector (PHI), focusing on the safe handling of hazardous medical waste. This initiative reflects the company’s strong commitment to maintaining high standards in occupational health, environmental protection, and community well-being.

The session educated workers on proper procedures for handling, segregating, and disposing of hazardous medical waste, minimizing risks associated with contamination and exposure. Special emphasis was placed on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and emergency response measures to ensure the safety of every individual on site.

In addition to operational guidance, the program highlighted the broader impact of health and safety—covering both human health and environmental sustainability. Employees were made aware of how responsible waste management directly contributes to reducing environmental pollution and safeguarding public health.
With full participation from all staff members, the program successfully reinforced a culture of responsibility, awareness, and proactive safety practices. GFC Waste Management continues to prioritize the well-being of its workforce while upholding its role in creating a cleaner and safer environment for the community.
